Annotation

State-of-art MS Project (Project Server 2003 & 2007) and ClearQuest integration module which allows bidirectional collaboration keeping the full hierarchy, total resources information and all dependencies as well. During planning in MS Project the module allows to import all resources available from the CQ base. It’s irreplaceable tool for excellent project management.

Project Tracker makes possible to integrate ClearQuest and MS Project in a much more advanced way than standard integration mechanism provided IBM Rational via ClearQuest ProjectTracker. During integration between ClearQuest database and MS Project plan the module enables flexible selection of fields and their correlations (synchronized data). The module supports hierarchical links between queries, permitting to perform simultaneously several tasks and subtasks included in the plan, which the module would synchronize between MS Project plan and the records in ClearQuest.

Project Tracker allows substantially simplify the project planning procedures of different complexity.  The main destination of   Project Tracker – is increasing of efficiency of the project managers, who can use this decision for quick and transparent management of project terms and for operationally receiving of reports about real progress of the project. On the basis of MS Project the Project Tracker makes the center of gathering the project information and allows manager to use only one system for overall estimate of project promotion.   
The module implementation policy shows its efficiency for any project. Statistically it allows saving about 18-30% of business hours due to simplification of routine and repetitive operations.   The module is more effective for organizations that have limited number of managers for administration of large quantity of projects.

• The module is implemented in MS Project upper menu similar to IBM Rational standard integration.

Features in new version of Project Tracker 2.5.1

• Full support of Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), that was realized by IBM Company in the version ClearQuest 7.1;
• It is added the ability to create the any type of ClearQuest change requests  directly from MS Project;
• It is added the ability to create links between additional ClearQuest requests;
• It is added the ability to download additional fields into the plan for additional ClearQuest requests,  the fields are read only;
• It is added the ability to create simple filters (Queries) for selection of additional fields;
• It is added the ability to download child queries into the plan for single ClearQuest requests that is already existed in the plan;   
• It is improved the user interface: it is added Project Tracker «ClearQuest Integration» panel and changed the location of some command elements in settings menu.
  

Main features of Project Tracker:

• Two-way synchronization of MS Project plans and requests for ClearQuest changing;
• Support of planning mode (MS Project plan is exported to ClearQuest), import (requests for changing are imported from ClearQuest to MS Project) and synchronization (two-way synchronization of project data)
• Support of synchronization for any type of change requests  (Task, Activity, Defect, Request and etc.);
• Synchronization of any MS Project and ClearQuest fields;
• Support and synchronization of the single pool of recourses between  MS Project and ClearQuest;
• Support of requests with any nesting level (support of hierarchic requests  for changing);
• Support of dependencies between requests for changing;
• Activation of any ClearQuest functions and forms from MS Project menu.
• Requires no special packs on records in ClearQuest scheme

Demonstration scenario (ver. 2.5.0):

1. Run MS Project 2003 and load simple project plan.
2. Configure our module ProjectTracer:
   • Connect to ClearQuest
   • Configure field mapping
3. Demonstrate results
4. Resource management (import resources from ClearQuest user database)
5. Export plan into the ClearQuest (with hierarchal & dependences links)
6. Demonstrate results (open ClearQuest record form in MS Project and navigate)
